Our very last New Beginnings session took place this past weekend, bringing the program to a meaningful close.

Over the journey, participants came together to build connections, share experiences, learn new skills, and support one another through life's transitions. What began as a group of individuals became a community of encouragement, belonging, and growth.

We're grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed to making New Beginnings such a special program. May the friendships, confidence, and connections formed along the way continue well beyond these sessions. ✨

Last weekend, Dr Senem Eren facilitated a grief and loss workshop at the Albanian Islamic Society, exploring grief through both psychological and Islamic perspectives.

Participants reflected on the reality of loss as part of the human experience, drawing on Islamic teachings that remind us of the importance of patience (sabr), faith, community support, and hope in Allah's mercy during times of hardship.

We thank the Albanian Islamic Society for hosting this meaningful session and everyone who joined us in learning, reflection, and connection.

Eid al-Adha Mubarak 🐑
A reminder that true sacrifice begins in the heart, through trust, sincerity, gratitude, and giving for the sake of Allah.

In a time when many hearts carry grief, exhaustion, uncertainty, or disconnection, may this Eid bring moments of sakinah, rest, renewal, and meaningful connection.

May our homes be filled with mercy, our communities with care, and our hearts with nearness to Allah (swt).

Earlier this month, our carers came together for a beautiful day out at Rayner’s Orchard as part of our Harvest & Connect session with the Centre for Muslim Wellbeing 🍎

Surrounded by nature, participants enjoyed harvesting fresh fruit, sharing conversations, and taking time to connect, reflect, and recharge together. These moments of community and connection are so important for carers who give so much of themselves every day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a meaningful experience. We’re grateful to create spaces where carers can feel supported, seen, and connected.

Last week, we had a beautiful Nawah – Multicultural Storytime session with Grade 1 students at Ilim College, facilitated by Gulcin 📚✨ @helping_kids_thrive

The children engaged with joyful stories that encouraged imagination, celebrated cultural diversity, and fostered a strong sense of belonging and connection in the classroom. 💛

A big thank you to Ilim College and Gulcin for creating such a warm and meaningful space for learning and storytelling.

If you’d like to bring a Nawah Storytime session to your school or community, we’d love to hear from you.

In the wake of the tragic shooting at a mosque in the US, many in our communities may be feeling grief, fear, anger, or emotional exhaustion.

Distressing events can affect us deeply — even when they happen far away.

You may notice:
• anxiety or fear
• sadness or grief
• anger or helplessness
• difficulty sleeping
• feeling emotionally overwhelmed

These are human responses to distress.

For many Muslims, incidents like these can also reopen feelings of vulnerability, fear, and collective trauma linked to Islamophobia and violence targeting our communities.

Please check in on yourself and those around you. Stay connected, limit overwhelming media exposure where needed, and seek support if things feel heavy.

You are not alone. See our statement here cmw.org.au/2026/05/19/community-care-wellbeing-following-the-san-diego-mosque-attack/

Session 3 of our RFF New Beginnings program focused on co-parenting and managing conflict, and healing after separation and divorce.

A heartfelt thank you to Summayya Olawunmi Sadiq Ojibara, Gulcin Buyukyazizi for sharing insights as a child psychologist, Shk Abdinur for his valuable contribution, and to Ayse and her yoga session

Our 6-week journey continues to create a safe space for connection, healing, reflection, and support through the challenges of separation and divorce. We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up, shared openly, and held space for one another.

Looking forward to the weeks ahead, inshaAllah 🤍
