New Beginnings is proud and honoured to deliver a ground-breaking initiative:
"Recover, Rebuild & Flourish - Melbourne" – a culturally safe, faith-based support program for Muslims, the first of its kind in Australia, and one of the very few globally.
We are honoured to be partnering with Centre for Muslim Wellbeing and National Zakat Foundation to bring you a unique program, developed through consultation with the community who have experienced separation and divorce, alongside insights from lawyers, community leaders, and religious scholars. It offers practical, lived-experience support rooted in Islamic values.

What You’ll Experience:
Peer-led support in a confidential, judgment-free space.
Islamic guidance on divorce, custody, and healing.
Expert-led sessions on emotional and financial recovery.
Powerful therapeutic and physical sessions designed to support both mind and body.
A safe space for growth, clarity, and connection.

Dates: Sunday 26 April – 31 May (six sessions in total)
Time: 10am–1.30pm
Location: East Coburg Neighbourhood House
Spots are strictly limited
Cost: AUD 70 per participant for the entire program

*This is not group therapy. It’s a safe and faith-conscious space for sisters to recover, rebuild, and flourish, together. General information and practical tools are offered to provide clarity and comfort.

Over the weekend we held Together We Rock

With facilitator @husna_pasha, we created a warm and welcoming Art & Chai space for carers — a gentle pause just for them. While their loved ones enjoyed an active, joy-filled session in the gym, carers were able to take a moment to breathe, connect and recharge.

Over cups of chai and guided art therapy with @noha_aly_in_australia, the room was filled with quiet reflection, creativity and meaningful conversation.

Because caring for others begins with caring for yourself.

Cultural values — we all have them. But how do they show up in the counselling room?

We recently delivered an online Cultural Intelligence (CQ) training with Westjustice, bringing together 50 practitioners to reflect, learn, and strengthen culturally responsive practice.

The session explored how our own cultural values, assumptions, and lived experiences shape engagement, trust, and decision-making in therapeutic and support settings - and how greater cultural awareness leads to safer, more effective outcomes for clients.
