At its General Meeting on 13 September 2025, the Centre for Muslim Wellbeing (CMW) confirmed new board appointments and farewelled a long-serving director.After completing their three-year terms, several directors were reappointed for a further term concluding in 2028:
Maryum Chaudhry – reappointed as Director and elected Chair of the Board
Dr Senem Eren – reappointed as Director and elected Deputy Chair of the Board.
Faye Spiteri OAM – reappointed as Director.
Sherene Hassan OAM – reappointed as Director, concluding her service as Chair.
We also extend a warm welcome to Diala Meknas, who has been appointed as Director and will serve as Treasurer through to 2028.
CMW expressed deep gratitude to Ian Horne, whose term concluded this month. Ian’s contributions as Treasurer and Director have been instrumental in guiding CMW’s growth and strengthening our governance. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Sherene Hassan OAM for her outstanding leadership and service as Chair of the Board. Sherene has guided CMW through a period of significant growth and change, and we are grateful for her ongoing commitment as she continues to serve as a Director.

Sherene Hassan said:

Incoming Chair Maryum Chaudhry shared:

These appointments ensure continuity of leadership while also bringing fresh energy to the Board as we pursue our mission of promoting mental health, resilience, and culturally safe support across our communities.
