Butterfly launches resources and support for Arabic-speaking communities

On December 4th, the Butterfly Foundation hosted the official launch of its Arabic-language resources, “Let’s Talk Eating Disorders: Support and Resources in Arabic” to raise awareness and provide culturally sensitive support for eating disorders within Arabic-speaking communities. The event highlighted the importance of accessible information and support tailored to diverse cultural needs. The Centre for Muslim Wellbeing (CMW) was honoured to attend this significant event and participate in the panel discussion, addressing the intersection of culture, faith, and mental health.

This initiative marks a step forward in breaking down cultural and language barriers, ensuring that Arabic-speaking individuals and families can access the resources and support they need to address eating disorders. With over 1.1 million Australians affected by eating disorders, these resources are a critical tool for bridging gaps in mental health care and fostering inclusivity in support services.

During the event, CMW emphasised the importance of culturally relevant approaches and the role of collaboration in tackling mental health issues within diverse communities. We are proud to stand alongside the Butterfly Foundation in this vital work and continue advocating for our community’s mental health and wellbeing.
