CMW Congratulates Dr. Senem Eren and Maryum Chaudhry for Their Prestigious Recognition at the Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence
The Centre for Muslim Wellbeing (CMW) is delighted to celebrate the achievements of two of our esteemed board members, Dr Senem Eren and Maryum Chaudhry, who were honoured at the 2024 Multicultural Awards for Excellence (MAEs), held at Government House, Victoria, on Wednesday, 4 December.
These annual awards, now in their 23rd year, are coordinated by the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) to acknowledge individuals and organisations that promote cross-cultural understanding and empower those from migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeker backgrounds to thrive in all aspects of Victorian life.
Dr. Senem Eren – Winner of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award
Dr. Senem Eren, the Centre for Muslim Wellbeing co-founder, received the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award for her remarkable contributions to mental health. A trusted psychologist with over 20 years of expertise, Dr. Eren has dedicated her career to understanding and addressing the impacts of trauma, fostering positive psychology, and exploring the influence of cultural contexts on mental health.
As one of the first Australian Muslims to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology, Dr. Eren’s pioneering work continues to inspire and support communities in Victoria and beyond. Her recognition is a testament to her unwavering commitment to improving multicultural communities’ mental health and wellbeing.
Maryum Chaudhry – Inducted into the Multicultural Honour Roll
Maryum Chaudhry has been inducted into the Multicultural Honour Roll, which is now in its third year. This esteemed recognition highlights her exceptional and enduring contributions to multiculturalism in Victoria. Maryum’s tireless efforts to build bridges across communities, foster inclusivity, and empower individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds exemplify the values of CMW.
